Sexual Health

HARP Unit information - see bottom of page for link for more information and Scheduled activity dates for 2017

Healthy Cities Illawarra has been involved in the area of sexual health and HIV/AIDS Prevention for over 20 years. In the late 1980’s, with considerable concern about the spread of the HIV/AIDS virus, Healthy People Illawarra played a role coordinating public awareness, providing community education and advocating for the rights of people with HIV/AIDS.

Over many years, in partnership with the HIV/AIDS and Related Programs (HARP) Unit at South Eastern Sydney Illawarra Area Health Service (SESIAHS), Healthy People Illawarra has worked to create a positive environment in which the public feel comfortable to approach issues of sexual health including HIV/AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and Blood Borne Infections(BBIs).

Healthy People Illawarra has endeavored to support new and existing CALD communities within the Illawarra and Shoalhaven region, including refugees, migrants and those from culturally diverse backgrounds, as well as the general community to provide sexual health information and resources.
