Cook Chill Chat is a social inclusion cooking program, bringing people together to share a meal.
Through actively getting into the kitchen, people also increase their cooking skills and nutrition knowledge.
Who is Cook Chill Chat for?
Cook Chill Chat is for people from all walks of life and will be participant based to reflect their needs.
Community ownership of the program is fundamental to its success, participants should be interested in getting together to cook and share meals on an ongoing basis.
How is Cook Chill Chat delivered?
Organisation staff will attend a FREE one day workshop covering nutrition, budget cooking, food safety and the basics of running a cooking program.
Staff will gain the skills required to work side by side our Health Promotion Officer to run a cooking program with your community.
Healthy Cities Illawarra will work with your staff to support and guide the cooking program. Participants choose each week from a series of nutrition segments which include themes such as: healthy eating that taste good too, label reading, 101 to kitchen safety, how to beat the supermarket. Nutrition segments are combined each week with cooking and sharing a meal together.
Healthy Cities and Community Organisation staff will support the participants to continue the cooking group after the six week cooking program.
